A group of St Francis Bay sport orientated residents established the St Francis Sport Trust in 2009, to promote the greater St Francis as the preferred sporting destination and to connect people through sport.
Through organising sporting events we promote sport to both our residents and visitors. These events are beneficial to all local businesses and existing sports clubs, promoting all calendar events equally. We focus on the competitive as well as the recreational sports person. The greater St Francis lends itself to become the perfect preferred sporting destination.
We aim to have at least one sporting event per month from paddling, trail walks, a mountainbike challenge to the annual quadrathlon, and finish the year with a summer series between Christmas and New Year with events including running, paddling, swimming and cycling.
Besides organizing these sporting events, St Francis Sport has also started implementing various projects to encourage a healthier lifestyle for the entire community. We believe that in this way we will also encourage visitors to return again and again, and ultimately to invest here.
All proceeds collected from sporting events are used for improvements, development sports and local charities. We would like to encourage as many homeowners in St Francis Bay to get involved in our quest and welcome sponsorship of any kind.
St Francis Sport Trust was registered in 2009 with the following trustees:
The Mission Statement of St Francis Sport is
- To connect people and sport in the greater St Francis Bay
- To introduce St Francis Bay and the immediate vicinity as the preferred sporting destination
- To promote all sporting codes in St Francis Bay
- To coordinate sporting events and festivals for the greater St Francis Bay and Kouga Region
- To bid for national and international sporting events to be hosted in St Francis Bay
